Akechi has two distinct paradigms - that of the pristine, intellectual, upbeat and charismatic detective prince, and that of the cold, obsessive, and ruthless manipulator capable of even the most heinous of acts. Akechi possesses an inferiority complex fed into by his compulsive, paradoxically perfectionist view of himself and his preoccupation with those he believes to be "better" or "more" than he is. Rather childish and resentful at times, Akechi holds a deep desire to be acknowledged and praised for his capabilities, which he believes are dismissed by most. Though his personalities may seem contradictory, Akechi does seem to enjoy putting on the shoes of the faux-detective prince he fashioned for himself, even indulging himself in intellectual banter and other things that may have compromised his cover. Akechi is incredibly driven and brilliant, tending to pour everything into his goals. He holds a deep, slightly warped sense of justice innate to himself, though the rules of this justice seem confusing and often contradictory. Despite his myriad flaws, his bitter, vicious envy stems from a rather pitiful desire to be cared for and to be heroic. First Impressions: Akechi comes across very friendly and disarming, with a boyish charm that betrays little of what lurks in his heart. Likes. Acknowledgement, success, prestige, acceptance, coffee, curry, the quiet, heroism, superhero comics, detective noir, intellectual discourse. Dislikes: Being snubbed, being brushed off, things that bruise his ego, himself, things he can't have. Quirks: He tends to be overly articulate and polite, and gets a subtle but childish excitement when he's needed or depended on by others, which can bleed through in an unflagging enthusiasm to help.

Akechi was born the bastard child of a rising star in the political theater, his birth being little more than a scandal to be swiftly swept under the rug. His ailing mother succumbed to her depression over their situation not long after he entered elementary school, and after an extensive and troubled line of foster homes, Akechi finally began to make some headway into what was then his only desire; to be acknowledged by his bastard father, Masayoshi Shido, and then to murder him. A mysterious power visited him, granting him not only the ability to command multiple personas, but to induce insanity or even cognitive shutodown. With a clear plan now in mind, he began to devote himself to studying and self-betterment, slowly cultivating the name of the new detective prince, unsullied by his grim ambitions. ************ REITERATION: SPOILERS AHEAD*********************** Beyond this point are direct spoilers for events in-game. Read at your own risk. After making a name for himself in solving some particularly confusing and preternatural cases, Akechi became involved with the Phantom Theives, deducing their identity and promising not to expose them, with the condition that he assist them in one final venture and then they discard their alter egos permanently. He had hidden intentions to betray them upon the planned failure of their mission that were eventually foiled by a clever ruse on behalf of the leader. Their involvement culminated in a confrontation within the palace of Masayoshi Shido, which nearly ended fatally for our erstwhile "hero". After dragging himself out of the cognitive world, bleeding and near death, he assumed a new identity and vanished, never to return, with many questions in his heart.

Requires concentration Negative Pile: Loki Repeatedly batters a foe with blows charged with bitterness and resentment. Medium physical damage 1-3x. Mild chance of despair. Maeigaon: Heavy Curse damage in a large area of effect. Lowers morale. Samsara: Overwhelming burst of light in a singular area. Can deal lethal damage instantaneously. Die For Me!: Overwhelming miasma of darkness in a singular area. Can deal lethal damage instantaneously. Desperation: Gives a surge of power at the cost of reduction in defense. Reduces sanity. Fortify Spirit: Akechi's is incredibly resistant to corrosive or corrupting influences, be they mental or physical. Psychotic Breakdown: Akechi is able to induce insanity in most non-sentient beings such as monsters or beasts by invoking Loki's power. In addition, humans with low mental defenses or willpower are also vulnerable. Others can resist this easily. Mental Shutdown: Akechi is able to cause brain death in unwary foes by killing their inner selves. This results in a gruesome, fatal seizure. Charisma: Akechi has a temperament that naturally draws others to him, and his upbeat veneer and perfect smile do him many favors. Deduction: Despite the forged nature of his initial cases, Akechi has a keen investigative mind. Appearance: Akechi's typical attire consists of a simple black tie, a rather classic taupe tight trenchcoat, brown loafers, gray suit pants, and black gloves. His features are boyish, his eyes large and reddish oak in color. His hair is long, flowing, and a cinnamon shade of light brown.
